Interview with Mr. Whetzel

Mr. Whetzel all together had a very interesting life and a good story together. His happiest moments are pretty normal for a person, getting married and having kids, the saddest also being pretty normal. The important life lessons he had listed are very meaningful and useful. During the interview, it could be seen that some of the questions really made the teacher stop and really think. The way he would like to be remembered was very meaningful and altogether he wanted to be remembered as a great person to his students and the people met in life. The words of wisdom he passed down to future generations are going to be very useful when it comes to how the world is starting to look. Mr. Whetzel’s great-grandmother is a really interesting character in his story and relates back to his words of wisdom. A good person who lived through many wars, but still looked up to the bright things in life and kept going when things got tough. Germany was said to be the place Mr. Whetzel had wanted to visit the most.

What have been some of the happiest moments in your life? The saddest?

When he got married and had children. The saddest being when family members passed.

What are the most important lessons you’ve learned in life?

 “How you treat others, and leave things better than you found them.”

What are you proudest of?

“Raising his children.”

How would you like to be remembered?

“As a person someone could count on who tried their best.”

For generations listening to this years from now, is there any wisdom you’d want to pass on to them? What would you want them to know?

“When things are tough you will get through them.”

If you could talk to a younger version of yourself, what would you tell them?

“Don’t expect life to go as you plan it.”

When and why did you decide to be a teacher?

After he retired from the airforce, teaching gave him the opportunity to help educate kids.

Tell me about your first day as a teacher.

“The first day was exciting, but apprehensive.”

How would you like your students to remember you?

He would like to be remembered by his students as a good teacher who cares.

Are there any funny stories, memories, or characters from your life you’d like to tell me about?

His great-grandmother lived through tough times but still seemed like the happiest person one could meet.

How would you describe yourself as a child? Were you happy?

He was an average normal child who was happy.

As a child, do you think you could have pictured yourself where you are now?

Yes and no, he always saw himself helping people but didn’t know what way he’d help people.

Do you think you’re successful in life? If so, what is the main reason why you think you are or are not successful?

Yes, the reason being that he is hardworking and has people around who can help.

Where in life have you wanted to visit the most, and why?

Germany, his family originated from Germany.

What has been the most thrilling experience in your life, and what made it the most thrilling?

The most thrilling was when he was deployed during war.
